Spread the word to help A Blogger and a Father #Cancer

Car and computer problems.  Both of them stop our day’s cold in their tracks and piss us off royally.  Why today?  It may not be a good day for either of them; but the day that it happens-when you’re not expecting seems like the worst day for it ever.   Then something major happens and you wish for car or computer problems.  A friend to the blogging community is going through something like that, stage 4 Cancer, here’s his story and how you can help.

Slugterra: Ghoul From Beyond-new on DVD

Slugterra is weird.  That’s what I thought when I read the premise.  A 15 year old yearns for his father to take him to Slugterra where he can become The Shane, protector of the underworld.  To be clear, that’s the underground world, not the underworld where zombies live.   However, when his father goes missing Eli goes to Slugterra to protect it.  Slugterra: Ghoul From Beyond picks up after Eli has defeated a major bad guy, but things aren’t going so well.

Brachiosaurus Backhoe from Dino Construction Company-durable, creative fun

Children love dinosaurs.  Children love construction vehicles.  A dinosaur construction vehicle is such a natural fit one wonders why a durable one for small hands isn’t in every sand box.  Sure The Transformers have vehicles, but they’re more imagination play and not dig in the dirt, move sticks stuff for small children.  Dino Construction Company has a lineup of vehicles that look like dinosaurs or vice versa depending on your allegiance.

Think Outside the Box at Children’s Museum of Atlanta

If you’re a parent think of Christmas morning or some other time when you child receives gifts that might require big boxes.  After they rip the present open, yell at the gift and then play with it, what do they do?   They play with the box.  The bigger the box the better.  If they can sit in the box or roll their toy cars through that’s awesome too.  Think Outside the Box is the new exhibit at Children’s Museum of Atlanta and is boxes, boxes and more.

Simpsons Comics #212: brings the funny to all ages

Sometimes in my search for the new and unique I forget the obvious.  I’ve found some great new comics that are perfectly suited for young readers, notably Skyward-which is great all ages action.  However, I’ve been reading Simpsons Comics for 21 years, it’s a great all ages comic that my son loves to read-when I let him.

The Bigs, a story young professionals (& more) can learn from

The Bigs by Ben Carpenter is a hybrid book of sorts.  It’s the story of Carpenter’s career from college to CEO of an investment company.  But more than that it’s the story of the people that he met along the way, both good and bad that taught him things about life.

Win a copy of #TheLegoMovie, awesome

An instant family classic movie is how some of my friends described The Lego Movie.  It’s awesome and makes our Duplos want to grow up.  Of course our kids are only 4 and 2, they’re young builders who are already eyeing the big boy sets.  You want to win a copy of The Lego Movie, yes?  It’s simple and you can even make a short video of your own LEGO creation.

Because ads or lack thereof, matter. Bing in the Classroom

One time our oldest was watching videos online when I heard incredibly bad language coming from the computer.  An ad had led him to a video that they thought was similar to what he was looking for.   In reality it was a profane laced cartoon that satirized programming that was meant for children.  Even before that happened I used Bing at home search for things.  Bing in the Classroom is in the same vein, an ongoing program to help kids use technology-in an ad-free, safe environment. Sharp focus-Bing in the Classroom   Continue reading Because ads or lack thereof, matter. Bing in the Classroom
