As a parent the internet and social media are a bit intimidating. I’m glad that our boys are young enough so that I can get ahead of it, if just barely. I know that it changes quickly and what’s cool is suddenly not. However I hope that by dad having some foothold in social media I’ll be able to assist and ward off some troubles for them. Much like the internet makes activists slacktivists it also makes cyber-bullying much easier to do. Continue reading Growing Up Online Free eBook & The Lorax Blu-ray Giveaway

Joovy Bicycoo Balance Bike review: Stylish, helpful and kids love it
What kind of freak would steal pedals to a children’s bike, I thought to myself when I first saw the Joovy Bicycoo Balance Bike. It was then explained to me that the pedals were never there and that a balance bike helps young children learn and practice their balance. Why can’t children just learn by falling off their bike the way that I did, my old school self said in my inner monologue. Enter the Joovy Bicycoo Balance Bike, a product you may not think that your toddler needs, but they do. Continue reading Joovy Bicycoo Balance Bike review: Stylish, helpful and kids love it
Lad’s nads and women with smaller breasts are better mothers
A study came out this past week with the dubious conclusion that men who have smaller testicles are better fathers. Those findings certainly make for lots of clever headlines and puns involving balls, nads, lads, dads, festival, technical, ethical and the upcoming election. However, when you dig into the study it leaves room for many questions. This caused me to make up a study that came to the conclusion that women with smaller breasts are better mothers.* Continue reading Lad’s nads and women with smaller breasts are better mothers
Book review: I’d Know You Anywhere, My Love by Nancy Tillman

Some children’s books will straddle the middle area, like some of Sondra Boynton’s and some will plant their flag in the second category. I’d Know You Anywhere, My Love by Nancy Tillman firmly sticks it in the second category, with its escapist, fun to read lines and lush, surreal illustrations. Momagers, mom and dad to the job interview are red flags for life
If the article weren’t in The Wall Street Journal I would swear that it came from The Onion. The title of the article, Should You Bring Mom and Dad to The Job Interview is about how Millennials are bringing their parents to the workplace. Cue blood boiling at the headline, stupid weak Millennials, I say in my grumpy old man voice. However, one of the stories isn’t all bad. On My Way to Bed is silly, bedtime story fun for kids
A good bedtime story has two ways to look at it: it’s fun for the children to hear and it’s fun for the parents to read. That’s our go-to rule for bedtime stories. If it meets both of those criteria then it’s bound to be something that will last for a long time. On My Way to Bed is the silly, brightly illustrated story about Livi creatively avoiding bedtime. The Pocket Hose review: cheap design and easily broken
I have an unwritten rule: Never, ever buy anything that I see “As Seen on TV”. If that product makes it to the store, then I might give it a shot. Enter the Pocket Hose, it seems logical that it should work, my traditional hose is heavy and this is only $20, so I’ll give it a shot. Alas, this pocket hose review does not have a happy ending as two of them broke within one week of use. Continue reading The Pocket Hose review: cheap design and easily broken
