Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer shines at Center for Puppetry Arts

As if we need another excuse to go to Center for Puppetry Arts in Atlanta, my oldest son and I went to see the Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.   It is so much fun to do mother-son dates now that he is 4 and can sit through short presentations.

The Fisher-Price Octonauts Octopod Playset Giveaway

We played with the Octonauts Octopod Playset, more specifically, our children played with it.  They loved it and it provided hours of creative free play with Barnacles, Kwazii and various sea creatures whom they rescued.  Eventually the farm animals made their way to the Octopod and it was all manner of imaginative play.  Thanks to our friends in the PR world we’re having a giveaway for a copy of the Octonauts Octopod Playset.

The Fisher-Price Octonauts Octopod Playset provides hours of free play fun

Prior to receiving the Octonauts Octopod Playset to review we hadn’t seen the show.  I was aware of it, but hadn’t seen an episode of it.  Since our oldest has been playing with the Octonauts Octopod Playset he’s been sounding the Octo Alert, rescuing various sea critters and wondering why this show isn’t available on Roku.   Parents who are down with the Octonauts know what I’m speaking about the others will discover it when their child is about 3 or 4.

Battle Bunny- creative & twisted children’s book at its best

As a child I remember getting a book or two that I didn’t want to get. It was boring, too young and intended for the child that they thought I was, instead of the boy that I had become.   Battle Bunny takes that premise, turns it on its head and manages to make one of the most enjoyable children’s books that my wife and I have seen this year.

Children will love the Bigsby Interactive Story Buddy from Hallmark

As a gift the other year we gave one of the Hallmark interactive story characters to a friend’s child who had just turned 6.  The child loved the gift but I didn’t really get it.  Now that we have a child who is on the cusp of reading, I get it.  The Bigsby Interactive Story Buddy is another avenue for kids to enjoy reading and it really works.

The new Lego spot is the best dad ad in a long time

Some ads take a moment to grab you, especially if your main character is a dad.  The dad ad two years ago from Tide, where he’s talking about braiding hair and doing home stuff was awesome.  More often than not the dads in advertisements are lame, stupid, overly machismo or just don’t resonate with me.  Game on for the new Lego ad that features a dad building stuff with his child.  It’s awesome, brings back great memories and might just make you tear up.

Create 2 Destroy: vote, build, have fun, vote and win

So recently we participated in a campaign with Crayola and Create 2 Destroy.  They provided us with a Create 2 Destroy set and asked us to let a rampaging 4 year old (and me!) create things and destroy them with  a dinosaur and rock throwing volcano.  Yes, it’s a voting then-but the punch line is, if our video has the most mojo then we’ll give away 10 Create 2 Destroy sets.

Here’s our video.  If you think it rocks then you can follow the link and vote, remember it’s a vote for us and for you (we say in our best cheesy politician voice).

Free Halloween music playlist from Disney

For our oldest son’s Halloween party at school we were responsible for the drinks, cookies and music.  I asked my wife if she had Thriller on the MP3 player.  Thriller is a lot of parent’s default Halloween music, more for the memories of the video than the music itself.  It was then when I was about to dust off my moonwalk shoes that I found about a family friendly free Halloween music for kids playlist that Disney put out.
