Transformers: Robots In Disguise is high quality animation for 7+

In the Transformer’s timeline it is years since the happenings of Transformers: Prime. Cybertron is seemingly going well and we see Bumblebee who is a beat cop with Strongarm. On patrol Bumblebee engages in a chase with Sideswipe and receives a message from Optimus Prime (who was supposedly no longer alive) telling him to go to Earth. It’s on Earth that the series takes place, but it’s important to set it up that way so old school viewers can put the pieces together in this semi-all ages cartoon.

Calls for the National Geographic Bee are open to schools

When I was in 7^th grade one of the smartest people in our class was Doug. One of his party tricks, for lack of a better term was his in-depth knowledge of world countries and their capitals. During one slow class I remember him talking about Togo and its capital, Lome. Everyone in the class had never even heard of Togo and here he was schooling us on things about this relatively small African country. The questions that I’ve seen in the National Geographic Bee aren’t all that difficult; but it’s something that Doug would’ve certainly been our school champion at.

These are the three items at Best Buy that you need to save money #ad

We were compensated for this post. All thoughts are our own and we really do like faster downloads, streaming TV, saving money and watching live TV. My wife and I are a great team and we each know our role. She’s the type that is less likely to start something while I’m the one that is less likely to complete a project. Know your role. Knowing that about us, I just completed three tasks from start to finish that will save the family money, entertain us more, frustrate us less and it all took less than one hour to accomplish. We installed a Nest Learning Thermostat, Netgear Nighthawk DST Router with DST Adapter and Sling TV; all from Best Buy, with each one doing amazing things.

The Magic School Bus Season Four drives on with manic, educational abandon

When Then Magic School Bus was originally on the air I was already out of college. In hindsight the mid 90s was a fabulous time for children’s programming. Even then I was a fan of Pee-Wee’s Playhouse, as well as, Wallace and Gromit. Both of these series I still like watching, plus it’s something that our children can watch and enjoy too. The final season of The Magic School Bus is out on DVD in a two disc collection that puts a bow on a series that was as entertaining as it was educational.

Technology, meet Halloween, Halloween this is technology; now let’s have this conversation in our house. Of course, Best Buy has a seat here too. Star Wars, or at least a licensed toy from the latest movie are also talking at the table-and it’s all done in the name of good natured fun, simple to accomplish Halloween pranks that you can do around the house.

Cross-town chili smackdown, 10/20, 11-1 at Firehouse Station 19 in Atlanta

We were compensated for this post. All thoughts are our own and we really do like chili and fires being put out. It’s great when a parent’s activities with their children can be win/win. On Tuesday, October 20 from 11 to 1 PM at Firehouse Station 19 in Atlanta there is just such an activity is happening. It’s a crosstown cook-off between them and Firehouse Station 30. It’s free, open to the public and Atlanta Falcons cornerback Desmont Trufant will be on hand too. Firehouse Station 19 is located at 1063 North Highland Ave, NE.

Let’s Count Fish! adds up to more than just another toddler number book

Yeah, you need another counting book for your toddler like you need small pieces of LEGO bricks under your bare feet. I think we have four books that help teach the basic numbers. Each book does it differently; some have sentences on the way to telling a story while others show the roman numeral in addition to objects that the kids can count. Let’s Count Fish! is more like the later book, but it does so with such charm you’ll want to read it to your kids just so that you can look at the retro-inspired images.

It’s #NCBD and things are looking grim. Well slightly grim anyway with all of the zombie comics coming out this month. In the midst of all this there are still lots of new all age comic books that anyone can enjoy. If you don’t have the time or patience to read through the list you can also dig into the podcast. We’ll talk about the comic, explain what their pros are and tell you which ones we’re most excited about for the week.

Adventure Time #45 is a one-shot issue this week. If you’re curious about the series and don’t want to jump mid way through a story arc, this week is for you. Bat-Mite #5 (of #6), Grimmis Island trade papeback and Lumberjanes Beyond Bay Leaf is also a one-shot, full of monsters and strong willed female campers. Mickey Mouse #5, Uncle Scrooge #7 and Walt Disney Comics & Stories 75th Anniversary Special all come out this week for fans of the mouse house.
