Win tickets to Star Wars Rebels: Spark of Rebellion-in theaters for only 1 showing

I remember seeing Star Wars with my dad in the theater.  That was back in the day and he wasn’t too jazzed about it.  Granted he was probably happy to hang out with me and that I was so happy to go.  It’s a different scene now.  On Saturday, September 27 at 10:45 there will be a one-time showing of Star Wars Rebels: Spark of Rebellion at Atlantic Station.

Get cooking with #ShroomTember, #Blendability, less fat & more flavor

I have partnered with Life of Dad, LLC for the #ShroomTember promotion. Sponsored by The Mushroom Council, the #ShroomTember promotion gives anybody the chance to win a $500 Visa gift card.  We cook for the family, there we are.  Sometimes through the process of cooking we get in a rut of conformity, stale recipes and sleepy taste buds. I’ve always been a fan of mushrooms.  One of my top 5 favorite dishes is the classic large portabella top with capers, horseradish, feta, bacon and pimento cheese.  For this task we took a normally meat dominant dish and replaced half of it with mushrooms.  Let’s see if our taste buds noticed!

Test driving the Ford F-150 during our working staycation

We were compensated to review and drive this vehicle.  All thoughts are our own. As a family we have big and small things, as well as growing people that are carted around every day. Certainly there are days when we need a truck and the massive amount of storage space.  There are big things that I didn’t pick up when we tired the Ford F-150 that I’m kicking myself for.  Our experience with the 2014 Ford all new F-150 is that it’s a big truck that can do lots of hauling and typical truck stuff, but also has the safety and creature comforts that one expects from a family vehicle.

Love the name Manwich, don’t you?  It’s the ultimate man blogging name, except it’s been around since 1969 and instead turns ground beef into much more than a sandwich.  They’re down with social media also and are having the #Manwich #NoPhoneZone twitter party on Thursday, September 18 at 7 PM CT.  You can enter at Momma Cuisine or we’ve placed the entry just below the jump too.

The Simpsons Family History: Aye carumba this is awesome

The Simpsons Family History: A Celebration of Television’s Favorite Family is not what I expected but I am 100% OK with that.  I expected a blow by blow account of how each episode is made and some photos from the animators and voice over artists doing their craft.  In reality the book is soup to nuts how Marge and Homer met, fell in love, had kids and found Santa’s Little Helper. It features art that is taken from the source that reminds viewers of the art that is at the root of the longest-running American sitcom, longest-running animated series and longest- running primetime scripted series.

Join Cinnamon Toast Crunch celebrate 30 years and win cool stuff

Time is a merciless foe and a constant reminder of bad hairstyles, questionable clothing choices and music that you can’t believe you once loved.  Some of those things that celebrate anniversaries are great and timeless- unlike those epaulets from the 80s.  This year marks the 30th anniversary of Cinnamon Toast Crunch and to celebrate they’re doing all sorts of fun things, giving away lots of stuff, having a #Cinnablast and ending with a big ole birthday brunch in Austin, Texas.

Sabor! from Whistlefritz continue to be Spanish language that our kids love

“Play the singing one!” is a rallying cry I hear from the back seat at least once a day.  “The singing one” is what our oldest son calls the recent Spanish language CD, Sabor! by Whistlefritz.   Whenever I feign ignorance of the CD he is quick to prompt me by saying, ‘you know the one with the panda and mouse on it’.  It’s good when your toddler is so specific, isn’t it?  We’re big fans of Whistlefritz and the way they present foreign languages.  The songs are kid-catchy, have lots of choruses that repeat and all of the vocabulary is in the liner notes.
