All opinions are my own.  For years I browsed the app store and Google Play in search of the best apps for our kids.  I downloaded dozens, nay, perhaps hundreds of apps looking for ones that would teach or entertain our children.  I look at our tablets now and there are only three apps- out of all of those that they still play regularly. Some of the apps were awful from the get go, while others simply lost their mojo or had windows where the kids could purchase things.  Moms with Apps changes all of that by sorting, organizing and classifying apps according to a myriad of categories.

As a group or Han Solo, life’s better in costume with Buy Costumes #ad

This is a sponsored post.  All thoughts are our own.  We don’t normally do theme costumes as a family.  However this is the first year that our oldest has really expressed an interest and his younger brother is following suit.  Previously the eldest was lukewarm to dressing up, but loved looking like an animal.  It was at a parade last year where he realized that if he dressed up and looked the part, then people will give or in that case, throw more candy his way.

Adventure Time: Season 4 on Blu-ray, magical, wonderful weirdness

Adventure Time: The Complete Fourth Season comes out on Blu-ray  and DVD on October 7.  We don’t have cable so I had never seen it prior to receiving the DVD. I was familiar with the name due to comic books, but was unfamiliar as to how large of a presence they have. However, just a look at the show makes me realize that this is something that I should like.  I asked the neighborhood boys who are 7 and 10, if they liked Adventure Time.  I was met with a resounding YES and they are not alone after watching it.

You Are (Not) Small by Anna Kang is what a (children’s) book should be

Every children’s book has the inert potential to be awesome.  Some of them are great, some good, fewer are OK and a couple are just bad.  The rarest of all children’s books in our house is the book that hooks us immediately and can be re-read without any effort at all.  The Great Lollipop Caper was the last children’s book that caught our attention to the same degree that You Are (Not) Small did.  It’s simple, has big, cute pictures and lets the white space between the images and words tell as much of the story as the written ones themselves.

Naptime DIY: How to clean an old paint brush

We’ve painted dozens of rooms and at least 2 complete houses, multiple times over the years.  During that time we’ve cleaned some of them not as thoroughly as we should have. That produced paint brushes that can double as a hammer, but cease being able to be used for the purpose that they were purchased. How do you clean an old paint brush that has dried paint on it?

Our #RockportChallenge, the review (& giveaway) of the shoes you need to know

We received the shoes for review.  All thoughts are our own and sometimes I do things just to annoy or get a rise out of my wife.  When we were offered the chance to take part in the #RockportChallenge (more on that in a moment), I looked over the shoes and my initial thought was “what is the most unlike me”?  I then showed my choice to my better half, she said oh no, blah, blah something, but then my mind was made up that these were my next new shoes.

The Storyteller Witches #1, dreamy all ages art makes Jim Henson proud

The Storyteller Witches #1 is an interesting comic.  It has Jim Henson’s name above it and is published by Archaia, who handles all of the Fraggle Rock comics, so the bar and fond memories are set high.  Think Dark Crystal and this is in the same vein.  Better yet, think The Storyteller television series that Henson created from the late 80’s and you have a much better idea of the tone and expectations of The Storyteller Witches #1.
