The Transformers Construct-Bots are buckets of buildable fun

When I was a kid I loved building things with by blocks.  Back then I had a square box with red, white and blue blocks and the only things I could make were buildings or vehicles with square wheels that weren’t attached.  Of course that time was the late 70’s, things are much different now and KRE-O is morphing the scene with Transformers Construct-Bots.

#Ad Dig the Radio Shack deals for #BlackFriday and #CyberMonday

I participated in a sponsored campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting (#MC) for RadioShack. I received a gift card to facilitate a shopping trip and promotional item as a thank you for participating.  As a dad to two young boys I know about gadgets.  Factor in that l like gadgets and they come by it honestly.  In the house we’ve got tablets, countless children’s toys that need buckets of batteries and cords that continually get lost.  This year, Radio Shack can help out with serious savings online, in person or online for #BlackFriday and #CyberMonday.

The Fisher-Price Octonauts Octopod Playset provides hours of free play fun

Prior to receiving the Octonauts Octopod Playset to review we hadn’t seen the show.  I was aware of it, but hadn’t seen an episode of it.  Since our oldest has been playing with the Octonauts Octopod Playset he’s been sounding the Octo Alert, rescuing various sea critters and wondering why this show isn’t available on Roku.   Parents who are down with the Octonauts know what I’m speaking about the others will discover it when their child is about 3 or 4.

Giving things from the Heart of Haiti this Christmas holiday

The fourth anniversary of the Haitian earthquake is approaching.  In January 2010 200,000-300,000 people were killed and almost 1.3 million were displaced.  As a member of the Everywhere Society they informed me about a project called Heart of Haiti that partners with Macy’s in supporting local Haitian artists.

The day our son learned about death

Recently we had a family cat cross over the rainbow bridge.  Ripley was an older cat, had some sudden health issues and died.  One of the first thoughts I had afterwards was how do we tell our oldest son that one of the cats died?  He’s always been close with the animals, all of whom are older, and teaching him about death isn’t something that I had given any thought to. So how do you teach young children about death?

Homefront starring Jason Statham, autographed poster & book giveaway

I grin as I write this because I’m itching to see Homefront. Plus I just feel manlier being able to give something away that Jason Statham actually touched.  Homefront is the new Jason Statham movie and in this one he’s showcasing his softer side. To me that means he’ll whip your butt with a pillow instead of his fists. Actually it’s more of a personal story about a DEA agent (Statham) who moves to a small town where he tangles with the local drug dealer played by James Franco.

Danger in the Manger disappoints all, even the diehard Whovians

Danger in the Manger is the sequel to Nativity!.   I never saw Nativity!, but it must have been good enough to merit a sequel, right?  They would never make a sequel to a Christmas movie just because it’s a seasonal movie, would they?  This is the story of a Christmas song competition, a class of regular students with a jokey teacher that gets into the finals, the pretentious yet well meaning class of talented singers and a class representing the ones that win every year.  Think of it as Christmas themed episode of Glee with elements of The Bad News Bears tossed in for comedic effect.
