DC Super Heroes Origami is folding paper fantastic, but challenging

Howdy, we received a copy of the book for review-all thoughts are our own. Our big fingered, difficult to fold Origami paper own thoughts. One thing I will always remember from when I lived in Japan was this time when a group of us went to a local yakitori. One of my Japanese friends sat down and started folding the napkins into any manner of animals. He did a snake, dragon, shark and more all before our eyes. He was a paper folding Criss Angel. DC Super Heroes Origami would make my friend smile. It has 46 different folding projects of varying difficulty for you to build your own paper version the DC universe.

New All Age Comic Books for Wednesday, September 2, 2015

Wednesday means new comic book and this week has a nice crop of the newer all age comic books. By newer I mean the titles based on new animated shows like Adventure Time, Bob’s Burgers and Regular Show. There are also the new reboot comic books like Donald Duck and Uncle Scrooge.  Both of these series started anew this year and really good and appropriate for any aged reader. Science fiction fans will enjoy Transformers, Star Wars: Jedi Academy Attack of the Journal, Home (trade paperback) and Futurama.

We love Futurama and this issue has a picture of Zapp Brannigan, who will always be read by Phil Hartman in our mind’s eye.

Girls will want to pay special attention to Adventures of Aero Girl #4 (of 4). There’s enough action for this to be great for anyone; but as you might have guessed from the title it has a young girl as the heroine who will resonate with girls especially. The links will take you to TFAW, which will save you cash on the comics that you purchase.

Boogie Board redefines writing and is simple to use

I’m slow to get certain things. When I was introduced to the internet my initial thought was ‘why would I want to know what the weather is in Cairo’?  This was especially ironic because three weeks later I needed to know the weather in Cairo.  The internet was too great for me to comprehend at first. That is exactly the way I interacted with Boogie Board. Great, I’ll be going to the beach in a couple weeks and could use a Boogie Board, was my first thought when asked if I wanted to review them.  However, after trying them out, taking them to meetings and using them I get Boogie Board and see how it can revolutionize writing and taking notes.

Star Wars Workbooks help with the Force, 3 R’s and more

A couple years ago we started a summer project with our 2 year old called the summer book. It was a way to engage him in activity books that would help him learn letters, colors and vocabulary. It’s three years later and he still loves his summer books, but they’ve graduated to a year-round activity.  Because of that we’ve seen a variety of summer books, some that were fun and some that were not. We were sent a couple of the Star Wars Workbooks for him to do and they are fun, educational and have really cool pictures for everyone to look at.

Win a $100 gift card from Fandango! #FandangoFamily #BlogPopEvents

Hey, hey, we were compensated for this post. All thoughts are our own. We love some movies in this house and have seen some really great ones over the past couple of months. Shaun the Sheep is the best family film of the year for our money. Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation is our favorite PG-13 film and the best action movie this year (so far) is Mad Mad: Fury Road. Going to the movies is a way that our family has fun and really relaxes and Fandango makes going there easier. It eliminates the need to find a seat by purchasing in advance, which makes going out with the fam less stressful. This giveaway is for two (2) $100 gift cards to Fandango to two different people.

What to expect from Dragon Con in Atlanta

Dragon Con is the largest pop culture convention in the U.S. that focuses on sci-fi, fantasy, gaming, comics, music, art and film. That’s quite the boiler plate copy, but it’s true. Dragon Con is more than a place to catch presentations from the cast of Arrow. There are literally hundreds of break- out sessions that are geared to exactly what interests you in the pop culture world.  And the cosplay-wow, it’s not required that you come in costume, but thousands of people wear them and they’re really something to marvel. The parade on Saturday morning is one of the highlights of the weekend.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Amazing Adventures #1 review

It seems like every week some comic is coming out with either Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles or Transformers. While both of those titles, in theory, are good for all ages, it depends on the age of the child. At least it did until now. Recently an animated, i.e., more all age title came out for Transformers and this week sees a new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle comic, Amazing Adventures that is squarely aimed at that age group too.
