Rainforest Adventures at Center for Puppetry Arts is great for crawlers to 7YO

Puppets and animals, well more specifically animal puppets-what’s not to like?  That’s the overall story behind the latest show at Center for Puppetry Arts.  Center for Puppetry Arts is the largest organization in the United States that is devoted to the art of puppetry.  If you’re only vision of a puppet is something that slips over your hand then you need to pay them a visit.

New all age comic books for Wednesday, February 4, 2015

Many of the all age comic staples are out this week.  There are some new issues from Garfield, Archie and Simpsons hitting comic book stores.  Also keep an eye out for Transformers More Than Meets The Eye, while a true ‘all age comic’ it’s on par with the level of action and violence that I was reading at 7 or 8 years old.

Other favorites that you might be into are Batman ’66, just like the campy television show, but with slightly more modern jokes and Looney Tunes 223.  The final issue of Planet Galactic and the semi-underground classic Darkwing Duck comes out with a trade paperback.   Oh, keep an eye out for the artistic changes happening in Riverdale, Archie and his friends are getting a more modern appearance in the near future.

The Kingdom of Dreams and Madness, a touching film about anime, life and Japan

Studio Ghibli is synonymous with anime.  Mention a well known anime film and Hayao Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli are most likely behind it.  The Kingdom of Dreams and Madness is a documentary about a year behind the scenes at the studio that coincidentally happened to coincide with the production of Miyazaki’s final film, The Wind Rises.

What the kids are watching on Netflix #StreamTeam

We’re part of the Stream Team with Netflix and were compensated for this post.  All thoughts are our own.  Since we cut the cord our television time has shortened and the caliber of it has increased dramatically.  Our kids don’t have to surf, instead they watch and under our supervision, watch some neat programming that we didn’t think that they would like.  Here’s a look at what the kids are watching and a couple that I’ve been digging as well.

Regular Show Mordecai Pack on DVD, out now and very funny

Cartoon Network has so many shows that hit ages 6 and up.  The leading edge and most popular show is Adventure Time.  Our favorite show in their lineup is Regular Show.  It’s as manic, strange and creative, but is grounded in reality just a little bit.  Really, it’s the story of Mordecai a blue jay, Rigby a raccoon who take care of the park with their friends who are even stranger, so take ‘grounded in reality’ with a grain of salt.  It happens on Earth, but each episode balances friendship, alternate realities, work and more in a creative mash-up that makes you laugh, even if you’re (much) older than their intended demographic.
