Investigators, the new 500 pound gorilla in all age graphic novels

Waves are a common thing amongst the tides, life and publishing. There will never be another middle grade book series as this. The best all age comic book that we’ve seen in ages has just ended its run. There are no new great all age graphic novels. We have points to counter all of those, but let’s tackle that last one first. A great all age graphic novel is one that’s fabulously entertaining for elementary aged readers without babying down the content. This way it can also be enjoyed by those in middle school, high school and those adults that read to children. For all of those in that sentence check out Investigators by John Patrick Green. This is legitimately laugh out loud funny for adult readers, but is probably intended for readers as young as six.

Investigators runs from the start, it’s one of the best graphic novels of the year.

All age comic books for March 25

New comic book day still happens for this week. Some publishers have announced when they’re new comic books will stop, slow down and how they’ll handle orders. Stock up this week and monitor their individual websites to see how they handle shipments. We’ll have more on that in a podcast.

For this week there are some great all age comic books that will entertain readers as young as seven and all the way through high school. What’s more, many of the comic book stores offer online ordering and physical pickup-with delivery to your car once you arrive at the store. If you plan this trip when you’re doing the weekly grocery shopping it’s a win/win situation.

The Giant series from DC Comics is great for introducing under the radar titles or characters. From Beyond The Unknown Giant is just that for us, we don’t know it, it looks loaded with action and is sure to entertain readers in middle school and up. Elementary school readers will want to read Sonic The Hedgehog #27 and Marvel Action Avengers #1. That same age group should check out Super Duck from Archie Comics.

Happy new comic book day-in this week where we could all use a little fun in our lives. Where’s my closest comic book store? Just check out the comic book store locator. From there it’ll be a case to see if they’re open this week. If they aren’t then you can purchase digital copies directly from the publisher or purchase physical copies from the links in this post. Those physical copies will come from TFAW and might be delayed due to shipping and their staffing. However you’re thinking about getting those comic books this week be safe.

I hope that Power Rangers Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #4 gets the spotlight that it deserves. This team-up is fabulously entertaining. It combines action, great villains, lots of turtle puns and is one that ages 9 and up will enjoy. The mini-series also gives the Power Rangers a chance to shine. The first three issues in this series were awesome and the fourth one continues the story perfectly. Now here’s a look at all of the all age comic books this week.

Our favorite team-up in years is out this week….Power Rangers Teenage Mutant Turtles!

All age comic books for March 11

This is the busiest week for all age comic books and graphic novels in 2020. From pre-k kids, crawlers, board books and all the way through high school there are some great comic books and graphic novels to entertain and educate readers. We say ‘educate’ in the most entertaining of ways. First up is Science Comics: Crows, which is an excellent, non-fiction graphic novel for middle school students and up. It’s funny, factual and will have kids wanting to read about these smart birds with a bad reputation. A slightly easier read is Journey Under The Arctic. This graphic novel is based in fact, but has a story element that some kids could mistake for non-fiction. It does a nice job at teaching kids about some of the animals that live in one of the coldest places on Earth. There are also lots of great all age comic books like Looney Tunes, Captain Marvel, Disney Princesses and more. In the podcast we’ll talk about all of these plus Snoopy First Beagle in Space, some great What Is The Story books and a couple others.

Issues, we’ve got all age comic book issues…..

All age comic books for March 4

This week in all age comic books is not much to laugh at. Well, almost. There’s only one humor graphic novel that elementary aged students will enjoy, but that is a big one. The newest collection, Big Nate Blow The Roof Off! is the kind of book that mid elementary school kids are curious about and those upper elementary ages will read and memorize. Middle school kids also will read Big Nate and know that this comic book parallels their lives. In the podcast we’ll talk about that, Magnificent Ms. Marvel, Marvel Action Captain Marvel, Ben 10 The Manchester Mystery and much more.  For now, here are all of this week’s all age comic books.

Happy new comic book day!  Technically new comic book day is every Wednesday, but we can celebrate a little early, can’t we? This week has some great all age comic books. In the podcast we’ll talk about My Little Pony, Disney The Little Mermaid, Usagi Yojimbo and a couple other great all age comics. When I first saw InvestiGators I said “this is the next Dog Man”. Our 10 year-old was within hearing distance and said, “the new Dog Man is here”? I followed up by saying that InvestiGators by John Patrick Green is the next Dog Man in that it has the manic sense of fun, plus the bright colors that elementary through middle school readers love. Once you read InvestiGators you’ll immediately want to read more. It’s funny and is just the sort of thing that ages 7 and up want to read.

My Little Pony, The Little Mermaid and the next graphic novel series your kids will want to read are out this week

This one-shot will be great for those that love Archie, the 80’s (or late 70’s) and those that like the previous Archie ‘meet-ups’ that you never thought would work, but were ridiculously entertaining. Hilo All The Pieces Fit nails the ending to this graphic novel series

I just asked our 10 year-old what he likes about the Hilo graphic novel series by Judd Winick. He gave me a series of one-word answers, like: action, funny, humor and then he said action again. He hasn’t really embraced his descriptive powers yet, so I’ll fill in the blanks. Hilo is one of the best graphic novel series of books out there for upper elementary school students through middle school. Personally, it’s one of our favorite series of books or graphic novels that has a continuous narrative. While Hilo All The Pieces Fit, seems like an ending, it might not be.

Hilo is a perfect graphic novel series and this entry perfectly ends this chapter
