I don’t really do grades on reviews, but in coming up with a title for the Dawn of the Planet of the Apes review it is necessary. The movie is not what I expected and my expectations were very high, but after thinking about it Dawn of the Planet of the Apes exceeded them on every level. In the end, the movie has as much, if not more in common with combat/war movies than the science fiction that you might expect from the title.

I Am So Brave! is helpful in teaching children that some situations they may find scary can be overcome. Initially I thought the book was too simplistic for even our two and a half year old. Because of that the book stayed in my office for two weeks. It wasn’t until a big thunderstorm came to the house that I realized just how helpful I Am So Brave! could be in action.

If you have a child under 8 you probably saw Planes last year. Those adults that saw the movie also enjoyed the voice cameos and some of the hipper jokes too. The story of planes with personality and the underdog tale of Dusty is the stuff that is perfect for movie goers in that age group. I am not just saying that Guardians of the Galaxy is the best comic book out there now simply because of the movie coming out. I tried to embrace Green Lantern prior to that movie, but the story and movie just didn’t hold my attention. I have high hopes for the Guardians movie and have been reading this incarnation of the comic book since it came out last year. Guardians of the Galaxy #16 continues with the team in shambles, spread out across the galaxy, trying to fight out of their situations and get back together.

Children are the barometers of life. Just as the high pressure system brings certain weather, when children hit a certain age parents have a vague expectation of what to expect.
