Let out your inner Ingall-win Little House on the Prairie, Season 2

Everyone has television shows that they grew up with that triggers memories from when they were a kid.  It’s the show that, when placed against today’s television seems for the most part better, more wholesome and really embodied family entertainment. Mention family television to moms and dads of a certain age and the one show that they’ll mention is Little House on the Prairie.  The classic show about the Ingalis family experiencing life on the American frontier in the 1870s is what generations of people grew up with.

Whistlefritz: a total immersion language program that kids will enjoy-Giveaway!

Prior to being a dad I taught ESL for two years.  I’m a big proponent for children learning a second language ASAP.  I also know that the best way to learn is total immersion.  The problem with children learning a second language is that they start too late and it isn’t total immersion in some educational instances.  Whistlefritz is a learning language program for children.  Their Spanish program has been out for a while and we got the chance to review some of their newly released French program.

The Art of the Steal is a clever film that’s a fun rental

Kurt Russell is a man’s man.  The goodwill that he’s built up since starring in Disney teen films to his hallmark films of Escape From New York and Big Trouble in Little China have always made him worth watching.  The Art of the Steal is an ensemble crime movie that is better than you think it might be.  It has shades of The Usual Suspects with Ocean’s 11, a bit of double cross and a deep cast that add up to a fun movie that’ll keep you entertained for most of its running time.

Star Wars Day is May 4th-here’s how we’re going to celebrate

Every year on May 4this Star Wars Day.  Like some people need an excuse to watch any of the Star Wars movies or look at the comics.  Our kids are still a bit too young to watch Episode 4: A New Hope, or just Star Wars to the OG’s.  Next year we’ll celebrate by watching that, but in the meantime I’ll celebrate by showing our 4 and 2 year olds some of the original Star Wars stuff that I had when I was a kid. How we're planning to celebrate Star Wars Day   Continue reading Star Wars Day is May 4th-here’s how we’re going to celebrate

The #LatteRomeo is here, thanks to Starbucks VIA Latte

Disclosure: This is a sponsored post, in conjunction with Starbucks and Life of Dad, LLC. I was provided with samples packets of Starbucks VIA® Latte, and received compensation for participating in this promotion.

I like caffeine.  Sometimes I’ll work late at night and even when that happens our 4 year old alarm clock still comes into our room at 6:30. He’s on his time and can’t process the fact that we were up until 1:00 AM writing or watching cat videos.  When you factor in the couple of date nights, wooing your other half and so on, it gets challenging.  Starbucks VIA Latte is having a fun contest with Life of Dad that will award a $500 Stabucks gift card to the #LatteRomeo, just in time for Mother’s Day. Are you the #LatteRomeo Continue reading The #LatteRomeo is here, thanks to Starbucks VIA Latte

The best product review that I never did: Melanoma #Ad

I review the majority of products that are sent to me.  Some books slip through the cracks, but for the most part things get reviewed in a timely fashion here.  One thing that slipped through the cracks was the Phillips Norelco BodyGroom Pro.  I had a great post about shaving my body all lined up and a couple of jokes.  However, in using the product we discovered a mole that turned out to be malignant, cancerous and evil- the jokes were cancelled for a bit.

Guardians of the Galaxy #14-still my fave comic on the market

I purchased Guardians of the Galaxy #1 on a whim last year on Free Comic Book Day.  If I’m getting all of these free comics, I might as well try a couple new comics just to see how they are I thought.  That was a great move because Guardians of the Galaxy has been the best comic that I’ve been reading this past year.  Issue #14 just came out, it’s a great issue and an excellent jumping off point for folks wondering what all the fuss is about.
