Does being a full time child caregiver exempt you from jury duty?

It’s the dreaded piece of mail that people received once every couple of years; the jury summons.  Like death and taxes, the jury summons will be issued to everyone (in the U.S.) at some point in life.  I saw the big X that meant I was on standby, called the number the night before I was supposed to serve and got an exemption-or did I? I’m kind of a #SuperMilkMan, you can be too #Ad

Did you see the Superbowl commercial starring The Rock?  It was the one where he ran out of mil at home and all manner of chaos happened when he went outside.  A bank was being robbed, a cat is stuck in a tree, zoo creatures escape and space aliens invade the city.

So, Ben Affleck is Batman.  Outrage, shock, reason, pity and acceptance, it was the 5 stages of actor casting that geeks and fans go through.  However, after thinking about it for a bit, I have hope, a new hope to spark images of another franchise that will announce casting news very soon.  Don’t panic over Ben Affleck as Batman here’s why. Back to school, save some dosh with #KmartBackToSchool #Ad

This is a sponsored post. I am a Kmart blogger, though all opinions are my own-especially the jokes, which may, or may not be funny.  Our kids are only 2 and 4, but they’re headed back to school.  Well pre-school to be 100% accurate and one is headed back, while the other one is headed there for the first time.  Regardless, I’m looking forward to it and they’re probably pretty excited too. I joke, a little bit.  Even if school were old hat to them I still want to save money and know that I can do it at Kmart.  Continue reading Back to school, save some dosh with #KmartBackToSchool #Ad

The Deep: Here Be Dragons #2, loses steam, still a good comic for children

The Deep is a three issue mini-series about a family exploring the deep parts of the ocean in a state of the art submarine.  It’s sharply drawn, has realistic family members that young readers will easily relate to and the first issue had enough action to keep boys interested.   The Deep:  Here Be Dragons #2 doesn’t have as much overall action, but does maintain the series momentum to an extent. Win an autographed copy of Standing Up by Director D.J. Caruso

Standing Up is the film adaptation of The Goats, a popular young adult book that was written in 1990.  It’s an anti-bullying film that follows the adventures of two tweens who marooned on an island by a group of bullies.  The two kids are embarrassed and instead of going back to camp, go on a 3 day adventure.

While the story may sound rote for us adults, let’s remember that this is meant to be a film that’s enjoyable for kids under 16.  However, watching the trailer for Standing Up my wife got a bit teary eyed, then encouraged at the happy parts and at the end commanded me to get this movie.  Continue reading Win an autographed copy of Standing Up by Director D.J.
