A Tribute to The Ramones and their influence on me

When my husband was about 12 or 13 years old he found his love for the Ramones. Simple and direct, they were a 50’s 60’s rock band with punk overtones. His analysis of their medium known works is not always punk-but also hard-rock with 50’s sensibilities. He even saw The Ramones in concert twice during  the mid 80s in Charlotte NC.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes review: A+

I don’t really do grades on reviews, but in coming up with a title for the Dawn of the Planet of the Apes review it is necessary.  The movie is not what I expected and my expectations were very high, but after thinking about it Dawn of the Planet of the Apes exceeded them on every level.  In the end, the movie has as much, if not more in common with combat/war movies than the science fiction that you might expect from the title.

Naptime DIY: Install the Kohler Touchless Toilet Flush Kit

We received product for review purposes.  Unless we have a toy dolphin in the toilet when we flush, then we received product for review porpoises.    All thoughts are our own.  The Kohler Touchless Toilet Flush Kit can turn any toilet into a touchless one.   In our marriage my wife is the clean one.  Me, I’m the one who cleaned the house with a leaf blower and lived in a house while renovating it.  However, now that I’m married the clean lifestyle is the one for me, so I’m told.  The Kohler Touchless Toilet Flush Kit eliminates the need to touch the toilet when you flush it.  But is it really that simple to install?

Montessori: Map Work immediately grabs (and holds) kid’s attention

Our oldest child who is four and a half loves animals.  It wasn’t too much of a surprise when he immediately grabbed Montessori: Map Work and put it in his bedroom to where I couldn’t find it for a couple weeks.  Having found the book again I can now review it just in time for its release.

I Am So Brave! really does help children overcome fear

I Am So Brave! is helpful in teaching children that some situations they may find scary can be overcome.  Initially I thought the book was too simplistic for even our two and a half year old.  Because of that the book stayed in my office for two weeks.  It wasn’t until a big thunderstorm came to the house that I realized just how helpful I Am So Brave! could be in action.

The #ArribaPlanes twitter party, July 10, 9PM, prizes from @BowlAMF and more!

If you have a child under 8 you probably saw Planes last year.  Those adults that saw the movie also enjoyed the voice cameos and some of the hipper jokes too. The story of planes with personality and the underdog tale of Dusty is the stuff that is perfect for movie goers in that age group.    Planes-Fire & Rescue is coming to theaters on July 18 and Bloggin Mamas has teamed up with Disney Pictures, Party City and Bowl AMF for the #ArribaPlanes twitter party on July 10 at 9 PM.

Guardians of the Galaxy #16, great story & art-bring on the movie

I am not just saying that Guardians of the Galaxy is the best comic book out there now simply because of the movie coming out. I tried to embrace Green Lantern prior to that movie, but the story and movie just didn’t hold my attention. I have high hopes for the Guardians movie and have been reading this incarnation of the comic book since it came out last year.  Guardians of the Galaxy #16 continues with the team in shambles, spread out across the galaxy, trying to fight out of their situations and get back together.
