Children’s Classics Collection is retrotastic, but slow for kids 8 & up

Every generation has a certain style of animation to their cartoons when they grow up. If you grew up in the early 80s your style was soft, rounded edges, with lots of storytelling, morals and lessons to share all day long. Children’s Classics Collection is the cannon of early 80’s animation that you may, or may not have been screaming for. If you grew up with it and want to show it to your children under 8 then it’s for  you; otherwise you might watch it for nostalgia.

My old box and small people building big things with LEGO

It was just a cardboard box, 1’ wide and 1’6” deep, but it is the thing that I remember most from my childhood. Granted, part of that memory is what was in the box.  It was the mid 70’s and in my closet were all my cool toys. I had a tray full of Time-Life WW II cards, lots of comic books, Hot Wheels and in that cardboard box were all of my LEGOs.

Making babies and the many roads of a child’s conversation

Perhaps it should be called the autobahn or the cul-de-sac of a child’s conversation.  It’s those times when you’re innocently talking to a child and they open up a whole new dimension of where you were planning on going with the conversation.  Sometimes it’s an innocent cul-de-sac where the conversation goes round and round while other times it takes that light speed to Endor jump from innocent to hold me tightly, I need a moment. This is a combination of the two of those streets.

Merry Maids Mother’s Day Program is simple, for all and appreciated #ad

This is a sponsored post. All thoughts are our own. And we clean, yes we do. True story: I was sitting on the playground today with a handful of moms. I asked them what they wanted for Mother’s Day.  Granted I was crowd sourcing for affirmation because my Mother’s Day gifts are already locked down. However, after speaking with the moms they let me know that I was on the right track and that many of their husbands weren’t.

Brothers are more than siblings, aren’t they?

Recently Charlie had to go to the doctor,  he was in pain when something remarkable happened. Mom and the two boys went to the doctor and Charlie was not at all pleased about the trip. Sure there is a Burger King across the street that we sometimes get ice cream from after our visit there.  But this time he knew that the visit was 100% about him and his pain and that thought did not sit well in his three and a half year old mind.

Whose Tools? isn’t just for DIY kids, but it helps

Our children immediately identified with Whose Tools?,  a new children’s book that teaches them 24 tools and the professions that use them. The book is surprisingly detailed, features six different contractors, like a mason, carpenter or plumber and has thick pages with simple words that are great for young children.

Vegetables in Underwear is ridiculous, potty training fun

So, our youngest is 3 and knows that he should use the potty, but doesn’t most of the time.  He’ll use it just prior to bath time, but won’t tell us during the day if he has to go.  Vegetables in Underwear is a silly book about vegetables, in underwear and being ridiculously happy about it.  A large piece of broccoli strips down to their red underwear and runs across the pages where they meet their other vegetables wearing underwear.
