Star Wars Command: small figures, big detail, great fun

When I was a kid I played with little green Army men.  I also grew up when Star Wars was released.  The toys in 2014 have finally combined two of my favorite things as a child in Star Wars Command Millennium Falcon.  It has 33 vehicles and figures including three AT-ATs, Snowtroopers, Snowspeeders, Rebel Soldiers and more.

New all age comic books for Wednesday, December 3, 2014

Hey there all age comic book fans!  It’s new comic book day and there are lots of comic book releases in addition to some new graphic novels and trade paper backs.  Our personal picks this week are Loony Toons, Planet Gigantic, Simpsons Illustrated and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Ghostbusters.  We’re also keeping an eye on Garfield and will look for Fairy Tales I Just Made Up as that looks really funny.  Where is the comic book store closest to you?

Moms With Apps tips for gifting and twitter party on 12/3 at 12PM ET #Ad

This post is brought to you by The Motherhood and Moms With Apps. All opinions are my own.  Apps are the new gift card to children who learn from tablets. Parents want the apps to have value, not be a waste of their money and to do what the child needs to accomplish from their tablet.  We’ve mentioned before about how Moms With Apps shortcuts the search criteria for parents looking for the correct app.  You can search by device, age range, subject and more.  But, how should you handle your app quest when it’s being used as a gift?

Capture Creatures #1 is promising, but needs more creatures

On the surface Capture Creatures has lots going for it.  The cover is dreamy, surreal art with an orange fox like creature stampeding through a field of mushrooms and antlered animals.  Capture Creatures is from Kaboom, who has a very steady track record with great all age comic books.  The inside of the book leaves older readers a little flat, but solidly hits the all age comic book audience.

Join the #SeekandSquish Twitter party, win some Play-Doh and create

Children love to create things.  Well, everybody loves to create things really.  Ask a child if they can sing and they’ll belt out something with abandon.  Ask an adult the same question and your answer will be more muted.  Ask anyone if they like to play with Play-Doh and you’ll always get the same answer, yes.  Seek and Squish is a new app from Play-Doh where you can squish the Play-Doh creations on the screen to reveal the hiding places of animals.

Daddy Mojo’s toy and tech gift guide

To a parent, toys and tech can be the backbone of your existence.  With two boys we know action and vehicle toys quite well, hint: Star Wars.  As a DIY guy I know a little bit about tools and I’m learning more about tech.  Just like the music, book and movie gift guide, this one has choices that you might’ve missed and a couple that are off the beaten path.

Daddy Mojo’s video, book and music gift guide

During this time of year parents might miss some hidden gems or low hanging fruit when it comes to gifts.  Enter the Daddy Mojo Gift Guide.  It has a couple gifts that are obvious and awesome, some things that flew just under the radar and some indie stuff that your kids will absolutely love.  In each description we’ll list what ages it is appropriate for and just a wee bit about why it’ll make whoever receives it a happy kid, regardless of their age.   It’s broken down into videos, books and music.  There are also lots of toys and tech, but that’ll be in another post.
