The Father’s Day #DestinationDad resort is Sears #AD

Father’s Day is literally just around the corner.  This brings about the whole discussion of wants and needs.  If I need something, like socks or underwear, then I’ll buy it myself.  However, if I want something, I’ll lay subtle or not so subtle hints for the wife.  Sears has you covered with #DestinationDad this year, those with facial hair, manly traits or techy dispositions will all but try to book a weekend stay at their local store to explore the hours of happenings.

Ditch the script on fatherhood #WorldsToughestJob #ad

Recap:  I’m a stay at home dad.  I get the blessing of being around our two children all day long.  It is the #WorldsToughestJob.  Some would view this as an albatross and others as a complete blessing.  And to be honest it all depends on what time of day as to how I would answer that question.   However, once the dust settles my answer will always be that it’s an honor and privilege to be a father.

Here’s why I cut off the crust to our son’s sandwich

Prior to being a parent it was easy for me to judge.  Sheesh those kids are loud-Why is that person bringing a stroller in here-really, a child at a beer festival?   Now that I’m a parent the only one of those situations that makes sense is the beer festival one, really people, get a sitter.  One of the more popular stereotypes that I finally bought into is cutting the crust off of our son’s sandwich.

Blog Forward Challenge update: baby steps to the goal

So back in February I wrote down some of my New Year’s goals.  That’s the blessing and curse of writing them down, it’s in print and ready to remind you at any moment.  For me though, I’m glad that I wrote them down because they were goals that I genuinely want to accomplish.  Watch more cat videos-check.  There were also some much more productive goals that I’ll get to in a moment.

Original Sin is this summer’s crossover from Marvel Comics

Every summer for the past couple of years Marvel Comics has been putting out event-crossover stories.  Certainly it’s an attempt to drive sales, but the stories can also be quite good too.  Avengers Vs. X-Men was two years ago and easy to grasp because it was what the title said.  The Age of Ultron was 2013 and very good, partially due to building up name awareness for the pending Avengers movie with the same name.  This summer’s crossover story, Original Sin, is less grandiose, has characters that aren’t known to broader comic fans but is still enjoyable here’s why.

Our 4 year old just asked us “Is that heaven”

Meltdown.  Our oldest was two steps away from a complete four-year old melt down in the back seat.  Silly us, we had changed the CD to something new and he really wanted to hear the ‘one with the singing’.  I started to explain to him that it was still singing, but then thought better of a crash course in logic with an ill tempered and irrational child.  Suddenly he stopped and asked “what’s that”?  Oh, it’s a cemetery, I responded, it’s where they bury the dead people.  “Is that heaven” he asked with a grin on his face and twinkle in his eye.

Salem Hyde: Big Birthday Bash- classic children’s comic for all ages

Salem Hyde is a young witch who is also a typical six year old girl.  She’s hyper, gets in arguments with friends, daydreams, is forgetful and is constantly kept company by her smart, talking cat Whammy.  Adults will almost certainly be reminded of Calvin & Hobbes when they read Salem Hyde.  It’s infectiously cute and has wit, imagination and smiles on every page.  In that regards it is just like lots of classic cartoon characters.
