HeroBear and the Kid: Saving Time #1, timeless appeal for all ages

HeroBear is a comic that I’ve wanted to try for a while.   The concept of a young boy and his toy bear coming to life when he taps his nose is super cute.  It’s the classic idea of a toy that truly understands a growing kid, when the world seems not to know what to do with him.  The art in HeroBear is warm inviting and reminds you of an old friend.   HeroBear and the Kid: Saving Time is a five issue miniseries about their adventures that’s good for young readers.

Empowering Women Together at Walmart solves your Mother’s Day gift needs

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Walmart and Walmart Foundation for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

I don’t panic for Mother’s Day.  In a way that by itself is a gift to my wife, a non panicked spouse is a good thing that begets more relaxation.   When you have two children under 5 a calm mom is a great thing to have, or be.  If you’re looking for some nice Mother’s Day gift ideas check out some items from Walmart’s Empowering Women Together line.

Win $50 in coupons from Michael Angelo’s Italian meals

Sometimes it’s great not to cook-and I say this as someone who loves to cook.  I dig the process of combining ingredients, the smells and the big reveal when it comes out.  Truth be told, I also like the experimentation of cooking, granted sometimes that surprises me for the worse.  Michael Angelo’s frozen Italian meals are as close as you can get to the smell and taste of homemade, while having the convenience of frozen foods.

Let out your inner Ingall-win Little House on the Prairie, Season 2

Everyone has television shows that they grew up with that triggers memories from when they were a kid.  It’s the show that, when placed against today’s television seems for the most part better, more wholesome and really embodied family entertainment. Mention family television to moms and dads of a certain age and the one show that they’ll mention is Little House on the Prairie.  The classic show about the Ingalis family experiencing life on the American frontier in the 1870s is what generations of people grew up with.

Whistlefritz: a total immersion language program that kids will enjoy-Giveaway!

Prior to being a dad I taught ESL for two years.  I’m a big proponent for children learning a second language ASAP.  I also know that the best way to learn is total immersion.  The problem with children learning a second language is that they start too late and it isn’t total immersion in some educational instances.  Whistlefritz is a learning language program for children.  Their Spanish program has been out for a while and we got the chance to review some of their newly released French program.

The Art of the Steal is a clever film that’s a fun rental

Kurt Russell is a man’s man.  The goodwill that he’s built up since starring in Disney teen films to his hallmark films of Escape From New York and Big Trouble in Little China have always made him worth watching.  The Art of the Steal is an ensemble crime movie that is better than you think it might be.  It has shades of The Usual Suspects with Ocean’s 11, a bit of double cross and a deep cast that add up to a fun movie that’ll keep you entertained for most of its running time.

Star Wars Day is May 4th-here’s how we’re going to celebrate

Every year on May 4this Star Wars Day.  Like some people need an excuse to watch any of the Star Wars movies or look at the comics.  Our kids are still a bit too young to watch Episode 4: A New Hope, or just Star Wars to the OG’s.  Next year we’ll celebrate by watching that, but in the meantime I’ll celebrate by showing our 4 and 2 year olds some of the original Star Wars stuff that I had when I was a kid. How we're planning to celebrate Star Wars Day   Continue reading Star Wars Day is May 4th-here’s how we’re going to celebrate
